Hi, and welcome to my site! I'm an award-winning feature film screenwriter, director, short filmmaker, script, film and novel analyst, consultant, writer (fiction and non-fiction), T-shirt designer, Mama Fix It™, and mother of two beautiful, neurodiverse kids. I am so excited to announce that I recently published the master class e-book, Pitching to Win: Mastering the Hollywood Pitch

When I'm not writing or making films, I enjoy consulting with and helping other writers and filmmakers advance their careers through gaining a deeper understanding of the storytelling process, the commercial film market, and how to succeed in the industry.

Several of my feature-length scripts have been Semifinalists in the Academy's Nicholl Fellowship Screenwriting Competition, Page Awards, Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, and more. Not only that, but they've received incredibly positive feedback from A-listers Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Jon Krasinski, and Reese Witherspoon
in addition to many other A-list writers, directors, agents and producers in the industry.

I'm currently Associate Producing my most recent script, THE ONLY WAY OUT, an Academy Nicholl Fellowship Semifinalist action-thriller. The script is being produced by Marty Katz (TITANIC, REINDEER GAMES, THE GREAT RAID, MAN OF THE HOUSE) and Steve Schklair (THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN, U23D) and has an amazing (top secret) director attached. And I'm repped by the most wonderful and amazing manager, Stephanie Rogers & Associates.

Be sure to check out my fun, informational and educational blog that includes an insider's look at THE ONLY WAY OUT'S crazy journey from idea to produced and theatrically released (at some point) film.

Education and Experience

Moving on to the more boring stuff... Credentials... I have a B.A. Degree in Creative Writing and a Minor in Theatre from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Certificate in Feature Film Writing from UCLA Extension.

I've written, produced, directed, edited, coordinated stunts, performed stunts and often star in my own award-winning, low-to-no budget short films which I make as a way to improve my writing skills and better understand the entire filmmaking process.

Be sure to visit my Projects page and YouTube Channel to watch my films, Mama Fix It™ episodes, and to see what else I'm currently working on. In addition to writing and filmmaking, I've also worked as a script consultant on numerous feature film, short film, and television projects, and have read and provided script coverage for The 51 Fund and The Sundance Institute's Writers and Directors Labs programs.

I'm also currently volunteering as a screenwriting mentor for students at Utah Valley University and am an active member of Women in Film and Media, Colorado who volunteers at events whenever I can. I also participate in many other WIF chapters' events.

To help raise money to support my writing, blogging, and filmmaking endeavors, I recently designed a series of lucky and inspirational T-shirts and sweatshirts designed especially for screenwriters, writers, producers, directors and actors. Feel free to click on over to my shop and have a closer look.  I guarantee my shirts will make you and your creative loved ones laugh!

Supporting Independent Filmmakers and Novelists

(As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. These purchases help support the creation of new website content and short films while also supporting the work of independent authors and filmmakers, who often don't receive the exposure they deserve.)

I'm passionate about helping other writers and filmmakers by sharing my knowledge and advice and making financial contributions to various independent films.

I contributed to the feature-length film, STRONGHOLD and the award-winning film, IN TRANSIT, both written, produced and directed by Julia Camara, an extremely talented Brazilian filmmaker.

I offered feedback and financially contributed to the documentary film, VOICE OF VANILLA, produced by Maureen Maloney, co-produced and directed by Gaelle Borgia.

I contributed financially to the uplifting family film, WAKING UP IN IDAHO, (currently in post) written, directed and executive produced by Johnny Lewis.

I also made a financial contribution to the beautiful, short family drama, DELETE IS FINAL, written and produced by the very talented Leah Naess.

I also volunteered my time, gave feedback, and helped determine market viability and have helped promote the novel, Redemption, a Jo Walker Mystery, written by the late Karen Starkins.  Click on the video below to watch my multi-part review as well as a review I read for Trai Cartwright at Craftwrite

Now for the Fun! Interesting Facts About Me...

  • Every day, I find some way to give back to the community either through volunteering, mentoring, setting up meal trains for families in need at our dojo, making meals for those who are going through a difficult time, checking in on a senior or someone else who is having a difficult time, helping friends and family navigate the medical system, picking up random trash and dog poop bags in the neighborhood and on hiking trails, making charitable donations, and showing my kids, our family, friends and community, through action, the value of service and how important it is to make a mark by leaving everyone and everything around you in a better place.

  • I'm a health and fitness expert and spent a couple decades as an ACE, NFPT and YMCA Personal Fitness Trainer, Aerobics Instructor, Youth Strength Training Instructor and health and fitness journalist who has written for the following print magazines: Family Times, On Fitness, NFPT Personal Trainer Magazine and more. I've also written for several online health and fitness publications.

  • I wrote a book, The Secrets of Successful Lifetime Weight Loss, which I may rerelease soon.

  • I spent several years as a motorsports journalist and was a contributing writer for RacerX Illustrated both in print and online. I also wrote for a variety of other motorcross-related websites.

  • I started and ran the website, MXINTHEUS.com, which pioneered a motocross gear donation program and an online resume system used by racers to find sponsors and vice versa.

  • I was an amateur dirt bike racer who earned the #2 plate in the State in my class. I gave up the #1 plate because I had a press pass to go to Vegas to cover The U.S. Open of Supercross.

  • I sat next to Bono and his guests at The U.S. Open of Supercross and didn't recognize him. I didn't grow up with cable TV. Fortunately, my husband did...

  • In Irvine, CA, my husband and I became volunteer members of the Community Emergency Response Team where we learned disaster response skills and how to provide support to First Responders in disaster situations.

  • Once upon a time, I was a Search and Rescue Explorer and First Responder and often provided medical support to boy scout troops during klondikes.

  • I was a Support Group Leader for the Denver Tourette Association of America Support Group for over 2 years.

  • I spent a lot of time working as a quality assurance tester/quality assurance engineer for several different software companies and am still to this day wondering how I earned an "engineer" title.

  • I recently earned my red belt in American Freestyle Karate. This is my third attempt to earn a black belt in martial arts.

  • Despite being incredibly physically active, I live (often in secrecy) with chronic pain, undifferentiated connective tissue disease, fibromyalgia and a host of joint issues that often knock me flat for a few days or weeks or even months. My personal mantra is: To move, you have to keep moving and so that's what I do. I keep moving until I can't, then as soon as I can, I move again.

  • Being an expert user of the medical system, I'm 50,000 words into a book about my experiences and the incredibly helpful lessons I've learned in almost four decades of navigating our broken medical system. Be sure to stay tuned in to my website and/or social media channels for updates...
