Last week, my feature-length screenplay THE ONLY WAY OUT won Best Screenplay at the Women’s Film Festival in Nashville. It was a powerful reminder that the work is connecting. While the path to financing and distribution can be slow, this win reaffirmed why I keep going. This is a behind-the-scenes look at the journey, the lessons, and the resilience it takes to turn a script into a film.

From nearly meeting Gigi Pritzker to winning Best Feature Screenplay, my journey with my screenplay, THE ONLY WAY OUT, is full of lessons, setbacks, and unexpected wins.

Stephanie and I talked about a theatre near her closing and how many other theatres around the country have gone out of business. We also talked about declining box office revenues and how it says something when MAJOR theatrical releases, AKA Tentpole Films, are continuing to underperform at the box office, regardless of the cast.

She spoke with Marty (the day before he left for Malta) and Marty said he had worked with Angelina Jolie's manager in the past and would contact him when he got back from Malta. Stephanie also realized she had an additional phone number for Fortis Films, Sandra Bullock's production company, so she passed it along to Marty.

My goal was for us to come up with some actionable steps to move forward with THE ONLY WAY OUT and that conversation achieved the goal. It was a great call. We had the most amazing chat, got caught up on what's been going on in our personal lives, then dove into THE ONLY WAY OUT.
